"This is a common game played in most jocks rooms around the country.  If you look closely, you'll see some cheating going on. That doesn't happen too often.  I tell people that they'll be getting two paintings if they buy this, for the price of one."

"Most people know that jockeys aren't supposed to be betting.  I tried to bring the viewer into the interchange going on in the painting.  The jockeys are eyeing each other trying to figure out: 'who dropped the tickets?'"

 

 

"This is a tribute to all the pounds I lost while sitting in whirlpools like these.  Many jockeys must lose 3-5 pounds every racing day to make weight.  This is the weight loss room at Bay Meadows.   I changed the rules on the red sign to add a little humor."
