Classic Zenyatta
     Classic  Zenyatta
"Foaled April 1, 2004 in Kentucky, Zenyatta began her career at age three. This champion mare has won fourteen of her fourteen starts to date. Twelve of her fourteen starts have been Graded stakes races, eight of which have been Grade I events. Zenyatta is one of only a handful of American Thoroughbreds who remains undefeated. Purchased as a yearling at the Keeneland Sales for a modest $60,000.00, by Jerry and Ann Moss, this super horse trained by John Shirreffs has earned a total of $5,474,580.00. Before a crowd of 58,000 people, Zenyatta had all mesmerized, as they rose to their feet cheering her on for this classic victory. Zenyatta crossed the wire a length in front of some of the finest males in the Thoroughbred industry. Covering the mile and a quarter race in 2:00.62. Zenyatta is the first mare to have captured the North American premier BC Classic in its 26-year history. She did it in classic Zenyatta style coming out of the gate, racing last, till making her move in the final turn. She then picked off rivals one after another making her way to the outside, exploding with her lengthy, gliding stride to collar Gio Ponti in the final sixteenth mile. This image shows Classic Zenyatta! Giclée prints available."

"Rachel Alexandra once again reigns supreme when facing older males in the $750,000.00 G-I Woodward Stakes winning by a head over a bold charge from Macho Again at Saratoga Race Course in New York on September 5, 2009, before a crowd of more than 31,000 people n attendance. Setting the pace at neck break speed the first quarter in 22.4, Calvin Borel got Rachel Alexandra settled in for a more conservative half mile. Rachel Alexandra is the first female to ever win the Woodward Stakes, where she faced older males for the first time in her career. Only one other 3 year old filly had attempted to win the Woodward Stakes, and that was Summer Guest back in 1972. This victory makes the Medaglia d'Oro filly, Rachel Alexandra the first to win a G-I unrestricted route race on the dirt in New York since the system of grading races began in 1973. No doubt one of the best fillies of our time, and is sure to be considered for Horse of the Year honors. Giclée prints available." Rachel Alexandra, Woodward Winner

Rachel Alexandra, Offsets Oaks by Twenty+      Rachel Alexandra, Offsets Oaks by Twenty+ "Rachel Alexandra races to an awestruck crowd on May 1, 2009 in Louisville, KY., as the Medaglio d'Oro filly seemingly appeared to sprout wings, and fly past six rivals in the 135th running of the G-I Kentucky Oaks, winning by a record 20 ¼ lengths, the largest margin since at least 1910, which is as far back as the track's records go. The winners share of $554,500. was the biggest success trainer, Hal R. Wiggins has ever enjoyed in his many years as a trainer. He said of his charge, "she's more than I'd ever thought I had." For jockey Calvin Borel who genuinely loves this filly, more than any horse he's known, "she's just the best horse I've ever been on in my entire life!" He spoke with absolute conviction. It's more than a bond with Calvin and Rachel, horse and rider, good team, partnership, or a big crowd pleaser. They are a Phenomenon! Champions on Kentucky Oaks day, as if winged angels carried them through the 1 1/8 miles in 1.48.4/5! Sharp from the gate, the pair were content to track Gabbys Golden Gal from just off her flank. Calvin sat chilly aboard a very relaxed, very focused Rachel Alexandra. Just outside the quarter pole, she moved outside entering her own zone. She took command in dominating style, as she straightened for home,.. Rachel spread her own wings and flew, putting distance between her, and six overmatched rivals to win by 20 ¼ lengths. Tom captures the scene exquisitely, from the twin spires backdrop, to the fluid motion of Rachel's gait, the elation of Calvin, to the sheer amazement of an awestruck crowd! Giclée prints available."

"Honored by Brown - Forman Beverages of Louisville, Kentucky. They produce Woodford Reserve, the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby, and they sponsor the Grade I Woodford Reserve Turf Stakes, the race prior to the Derby. They had seen Tom's art, and knew that he was a retired jockey. They commissioned him to do the art for their 2009 Kentucky Derby Edition label. Brown - Forman only produced 30,000 bottles with this label. For Tom to be asked to do the '09 label is quite an honor for him, and as Tom sees it, . . . a great feather in his cap. Doing the '09 label will also give Tom a great deal of exposure, and only 200 prints have been produced. Get your s/n giclée print today before they're gone." Close Quarters, Derby Day

Zenyatta Circles The Ladies
Zenyatta Circles The Ladies
"Here is another view of Zenyatta, as she won the Breeders' Cup Distaff, which was renamed The Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic. This race is the equivalent for fillies and mares as what the Breeders' Cup Classic is for the colts and horses. Tom has really taken advantage of the bright colors of the jockey's silks in this painting against the dark background. Stunning is this champion. Giclée prints available."

"Horse of the Year, and Champion 3-Year-Old Male in 2007. The mighty Curlin returns in 2008 to further his champion racing record. Curlin is 11 - 2 - 2 from his 16 career starts, and with earnings of $10,501,800. becoming the top money earner of all time. The Steve Asmussen trained son of Smart Strike got the majority of votes for Horse of the Year again in '08 over the highly regarded runner up, Zenyatta. Curlin shown here with jockey Robby Albarado in the irons wins the Dubai World Cup hosted by United Arab Emirates. in Dubai, the richest race ever with a purse of $6 million dollars. Held on March 29, 2008, Curlin won handily in Dubai to defeat the United Arab Emirates' only Triple Crown champion Asiatic Boy, winning by 7 3/4 lengths in a time of 2:00.15. Albarado did no more than shake his reins at the chestnut champ, and Curlin proved he was best. Curlin was retired on November 29, 2008, after campaigning at ages three and four. Zenyatta, Winning Lady's Secret Stakes
Zenyatta, Winning the Lady's  Secret Stakes
"Zenyatta, an imposing dominating presence on any race course. She turned up the heat making this her eighth career victory. Zenyatta took the $250,000.00 Lady's Secret G-I at Santa Anita's Oak Tree meet on September 27, 2008. Trainer John Shirreffs has mapped the monstrous mare's career to perfection as she maintains her rhythm and her perfect score on the Southern California circuit. Another stellar performance by the huge presence of Zenyatta, who doesn't seem to begin her race till she turns for home and then turns it on for her adoring public as she stretches out her long legs in an effortless stride, gliding past rivals under jockey, Mike Smith who's only but along for the ride with this champion who's won six consecutive Graded Stakes. Owned by Jerry and Ann Moss, the force of Zenyatta is an ever present threat to those who dare show up to test this treasured champ. Tom Chapman captures Zenyatta here winning the Lady's Secret by three and a half lengths in what appeared to be a gallop for her. Jockey Smith gave her but a tap of the whip on her shoulder letting her know she can pick it up a little bit. Ears pricked she looks for competition that doesn't meet her bravery in this contest. This 10 X 10" original oil painting is on gallery wrap canvas, so no frame is required. The edges of the painting are one and one half inches thick which is painted to that thickness. Beautiful Zenyatta Giclée  prints available in two sizes."

"This image is a tribute to Bay Meadows Racecourse which was in operation from Novemeber 13, 1934 and is set for demolition in October of 2008. This painting is also a tribute to the 20 years in which the jockey Tom Chapman spent racing on the Bay Meadows Racecourse. Tom also rode the last race of his career on the Bay Meadows Racecourse. Tom adds a bit of sentiment and history in the image here. Note the jockeys' silks are the colors of the most famous stables that have raced at Bay Meadows over the years. The horses aren't likenesses of the famous horses that raced here under those colors. But the colors of the silks do reflect some of the most prominant owners of some very famous horses. From left to right the colors are those of Charles S.Howard, (Seabiscuit), Bob and Beverly Lewis (Charismatic), Calumet Farms (Citation), Harry Aleo (Lost in the Fog), and Sam and Dorothy Rubin (John Henry). We wish Bay Meadows a fond farewell. Two sizes of Giclée prints. Bay Meadows, The End of an Era

Curlin, Cool in the Desert
Curlin, Cool in the Desert
"Capturing some of the most prestigious awards attainable in the world of horse racing. Voted 2007 Eclipse Champion Horse of the Year as well as Champion 3 Year Old Male. Curlin continues an impressive run. Trained by Steve Asmussen, Curlin has been the pride of his vast stable of horses. You just don't get to train class horses, such as the likes of Curlin every day. Mostly, a trainer spends their entire career working long hard hours, doing a difficult job, and can only hope that a horse of such caliber will one day be led into their barn with a talent the likes of which the caramel colored, Curlin possess. Unraced at age 2, Curlin was purchased for 3.5 million after his maiden voyage, and every race thereafter has been with the top runners in, and out of the U.S.A. Among his victories at age 3, Curlin won the G-I Preakness S, G-I Breeders Cup Classic, G-I Jockey Gold Cup, G-II Arkansas Derby, and the G-II Rebel S. At age 4 Curlin continues to show off his champion ability. He's won the G-I Stephen Foster Hcp., Jaguar Trophy Hcp. and the G-I Dubai World Cup Classic, world's richest horse race! The Triple Crown might have been his to claim, say some experts, had he raced at age 2. Never worse than third in his 13 career starts, his stats of 9-2-2, are mighty impressive, with earnings of $9,496,800. Curlin continues his career racing and earning out of the Steve Asmussen barn, for principle owner Jess Jackson and his Stonestreet Stable, and the rest in owned by Midnight Cry Stable. Seen here winning the Dubai World Cup Classic, with Robby Albarado in the pilots position."  Giclée Prints here.

Champion Lava Man, Three Times Gold
Champion  Lava Man,  Three Times Gold
Lava Man, 17 8 3 from his 42 career starts. He is the only horse to win Gr- I Stakes races over 3 different surfaces. This series focuses on Lava Man's win in the Hollywood Gold Cup for the 3rd time in a row. Tom captures Lava Man beautifully right, in this 3 piece montage of his 2007 Hollywood Gold Cup victory, with Corey Nakatani up. The upper right clearly shows the whites of the eyes in both horses. Interesting head on view, upper left, shows field turning for home. Bottom view shows the determination of this champion, to just get up as needed. Tom brings you the all new series of Lava Man."

"Not since '78 has there been a Triple Crown winner, when Affirmed won it, some 29 years ago. Jockey Steve Cauthen, was in the irons at age 18. Affirmed was the 11th horse ever to accomplish the feat of winning the prestigious three races. Trained by Laz Barrera, Affirmed was also Horse of the Year '78, and again won that award in '79. Known best for his rivalry with the great Alydar. Laz Barrera once was quoted as saying, "Affirmed was greater than Secretariat, Seattle Slew and all the rest, why? Because none of them had to face Alydar." Here captured, the great Affirmed with Steve Cauthen, up. Tom has pushed back the background, and left just the illusion of trees. He's muted the colors, except for the pink of the jockey's silks. This image takes place around the Clubhouse turn at Churchill Downs in the '78 Kentucky Derby. Cauthen sits chilly." The Russell Record
The Russell Record
"The last week in November of 2006 proved a pretty tough time for jockey Russell Baze as he neared breaking the record for world's leading jockey in wins. We waited breathless for Russell to make horse racing history and to pass fellow Hall of Fame Jockey Laffit Pincay, Jr. who had won 9,530 races before injury forced him into retirement. In the fourth race, on December 1, 2006 at Bay Meadows aboard "Butterfly Belle" Russell Baze made history, and will forever be in the record books as one of the greatest jockey's there ever has been! As of 01/23/07, Russell had won 9,587 races. A hero to some, we watch in awe of your accomplishments. You've honed your craft to a finely tuned art, and you prove to us that dreams do come true! You're truly the best of us Russell!"

"Not since the 1946 Kentucky Derby has there been a horse win by such a large margin. Edgar Prado was in the irons for trainer Michael Matz. Barbaro’s 6 1/2 length romp in the 2006 Derby, looked like an easy afternoon gallop. So many looking ahead, hopeful Barbaro would win the Triple Crown, the first to do so in 28 years. Tragedy struck in the Preakness Stakes, when this "would be king" was pulled up 100 yards after the start. Powerful Barbaro had broken his right hind leg in the 131st running of the Preakness Stakes. Hopes were dashed, dreams crushed, and hearts broken. Tom painted this one to pay tribute to one so special as Barbaro, a brave hero, who never got to realize his full potential on the racetrack. This great champion is gone forever, but leaves behind a legacy unlike any horse before him. His many fans, known as the FOB, keep his spirit alive fighting for the rights to a better life for horses in America. A phenomenon referred to as the Barbaro Effect." The Look Of A Champion, Barbaro
The Look of a Champion,  Barbaro
"Great racehorses seem to have a special look in their eye. Or so it has always seemed to me and many others at the tracks. I don't know, . . . it's a certain quality, a spark, or glimmer that one can either see or feel. It's said the eyes, are the windows to the soul. By looking closely into the eye of such greatness, it's very magnetic and even empowering. Secretariat had this look, as did Seattle Slew, Ruffian, Charismatic, Go For Wand, and the list goes on. But when you're in such a presence, it's hard to ignore it. Barbaro had such a presence. Few possess such a special quality, and it shined brilliantly in his 2006 Kentucky Derby performance. It isn't all that common, and some people go a lifetime and never get to know what I'm speaking of. This painting of Barbaro is a tribute to this proven talent who had the Look of a Champion. This powerful piece of art would compliment that of any horse racing fan's collection."  Check our Giclée  Prints available now.

"There was a quiet hush in the stands at Belmont Park on June 11, 2005 when the 8th race of the days card, the G-II Riva Ridge Breeders Cup Stake got set for post. The publics betting choice, Lost in the Fog, would be trying for his 7th consecutive victory. Tom painted this to commemorate the great racing talent who has been making headlines for the Gilchrist Racing Team and owner Harry Aleo in recent days. Tom feels a strong connection with the horse, due to his own career. Trainer Greg Gilchrist, whom Tom had ridden for many years, along with owner Harry Aleo, and rode with regular Jockey, Russell Baze for close to 20 years. Lost in the Fog was stabled at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Ca. Tom has incorporated the Golden Gate bridge into the background shrouded by fog, commonly seen in the area. GGF is a racetrack where Tom Chapman spent a good many years, riding and winning races himself." Three sizes of Giclée Prints  are now available. Lost In The Fog

Attraction at Ascot
Attraction at Ascot
"Attraction is a "braw lass", bred in the debatable lands by her owner, the Duke of Roxbughe, and trained by Scottish patriot, Mark Johnston, just over the border in Yorkshire. Her conformation, which is unconventional as a race horse, has made little difference on the race course. Her legs are tiny and frail looking, but the end of her tail is the nearest that any of her rivals are likely to get. She has already earned her place among horse racing superstars. Attraction is already the finest Scottish filly ever to grace a racecourse. Before the season is out, she may prove she's best of them all."

"Outside of the usual art world circles, Tom is fast becoming well known for his "Name That Painting Contests!" In September 2003, this was the painting that had needed a good name. We've had some good contests in the past, but this was by far the biggest, as the turn out nearly tripled from previous contests. We had so many participants Tom gave consolation prizes to four runner ups. This is a painting loved by most as we believe it hits us where we live."
