"Tom came up with something a little different here with these mountain goats who seem to be looking out over the rugged terrain far below them. Tom has set the location which is on the Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier National Park up in the high hills of his home state of Montana. This painting would be beautiful above the fireplace in your den or office at your home."

A Harem Gathering
|
"Tom has named this painting appropriately as this buck gathers the fairer of the sexes to his side. This elk image was painted right at dusk, and Tom has added just a sprinkling of snow on the ground to show the piece reflects rhe mid December dusk. The location is looking East into Glacier National Park. This painting would be ideal in ones den or home office"
|
|
"A familiar site to the native of Montana are elk. Often you will see elk in a setting much like this one here on the river banks at home where Tom lived as a boy in Cutbank, Montana. It is a setting where one would feel comfortable at any time of the summer. This is a painting that would go well in the den or living room of any country ranch style home."

Lone Wolf
|
"The Timber Wolf is a rare vision to see anywhere in the world. Once plentiful in the wild this species is near extinction. The myths portray these creatures as mean and vicious, but the fact is they're quite shy and timid. Thus you only see them on a rare occasion. Usually this would be when they come out of their hideouts to venture for food. An unsuspecting herd of sheep or ranchers chicken house might become his target. Generally however they don't bother people unless you bother them first. "

|
"After a long winters nap, the bear awakens hungry and a bit disoriented.
He may wonder around aimlessly for moments before deciding on a meal. The bear
in the wilderness, are scary creatures and command some respect. These
magnificent creatures are sure to get that respect from people as well as the
other wildlife in the forests or woods. The bear isn't an animal one should
ever take for granted. They can be quite unpredictable."

Some That Cody Missed
|
"This is the latest of my wildlife paintings, my subjects appear to be out
of the old west in the days where these hides would've made a man or woman a
very much needed winter coat. We prefer to see them in this type of setting
although it's nice to stay warm on cold winter nights. These are long forgotten
creatures in much of our country's history. Also some that Cody missed."
|
|
"The Bear out in the wilderness, any way you slice it are scary creatures.
Strong as they are big, they aren't as clumsy as the movies we've seen them in
portray them. They are quite agile and quick when neccessary. It is said, if
you should meet one of these giants in the wild you should put your hands over
your head and make yourself look bigger although while to you it may sound as
if it'd be threatening to a bear, it isn't for them. Puts the bear at ease.
Just something I read. Me? I'd high tail it outta the vicinity as quickly as
possible."

Bison On The Yellowstone
|
"One of Toms more recent wildlife paintings, is done in a somewhat
looser style than most of his paintings. He used warm colors to capture the
feel of a hot Summer afternoon in Southern Montana along the Yellowstone River.
Rare as it may be to most of us, in the great Yellowstone National Park this is
not an unfamiliar site."
|
|
"As you look at this painting you can see the tentativeness that the buck
is feeling. These creatures are acutely aware of smells, sounds,
and their senses are sharp to pick up on any strange movement in
the forest. It's mid October, and a sunny afternoon just days after
an early snow. It's hunting season and no doubt he has heard some
gunfire during the course of the day. Hence the title. This painting
hangs in the Western Life Gallery of San Francisco. "

|
Scaup At Foothill Park
|
"The combined breeding population of Greater and Lesser Scaup is larger
than that of any other diving duck. This species are greater than that of most
dabbling ducks in North America. The Lesser Scaup can be distinguished from the
very similar Greater Scaup by its smaller size. This late migrating bird often
leaves the breeding range just prior to a freezeup. Flock movements are rapid,
and often erratic, and they usually will travel in compact groups. This
painting would look very nice in a home office or a den of a hunter or
birdwatcher."

"Tom came from the hills of Montana, and still consider it his home.
Tom has always had a love for the outdoors, or anything having to do with nature,
and every now and then he does a painting of wild life for a change from equine art."
|
White Tail Buck
|
A Patch of Blue
|
"This is a painting that would be a very familiar site to the
Canadians. This Blue Jay sitting perched in the very early morning light, the
fog wafting through the branches of the tree. A quiet comfortable setting. It
would look good in any room in the house."

"I came from the hills of Montana, and still consider it my home.
I've always had a love for the outdoors, or anything having to do with nature,
and every now and then I do a painting of wild life for a change from equine
art. This painting was recently the subject matter for our recent "Name That
Painting" contest Where we let our list members and visitors take a crack at
naming the piece, and they in turn won a Giclee Print of America Rides."

The Bohemian Club
|
"The "Bohemian Club gets it's name because these are Bohemian Waxwings
and there is an exclusive club up in Santa Rosa by that name. Not just anybody
can join. It's usually guys like Bob Hope and other such celebrities. They are
a beautiful bird and one that looks excellent on canvas."
|
|
"This is a painting of a bull elk during mating
season. These dominant animals would welcome any and all rivals who might
challenge his authority over the woods he keeps as his domain. Here he is
calling out to any would be challengers to his dominance."

The Keeper of the Woods
|
Alaskan Moose
|
"This painting shows a bull moose eating at last light. I love the
lighting at this time of day. It often is so brilliant and colorful. Makes for
an exquisite background in this quiet, serene setting."
|
|
"This is a painting I did it from a photo that I took out my front door.
I placed the sparrow on the canvas to make it appear that the viewer is looking
up. The Song Sparrow is an extremely common, widespread, and geographically
variable bird. Both sexes look alike. Sparrow's are known for their beautiful
voices and are a joy to listen to. In the background of this page you are
listening to a sparrow's song."

Fish Your Pants Off
|
"Toms friend and racing companion, Chris Hummel, caught this 36 lb. salmon here in California. Chris is one of those guys who could catch a fish in a 5 foot wide mud puddle. As you can see, he has a weird sense of humor."
